What's our next big event?
Open Monument Day 2019
Date: Sept 14 & 15 || Time: 11:00 - 16:00
A few times a year Wester-Amstel opens up its house for public tours. It's the perfect chance to learn more about our estate's history and see what we have planned for the future.
At 12.00 and 14.00 there are tours in the house, park and gardens. The seeds of our biologically grown plants will be sold to give the chance to grow your own herbs and vegetables.
Along with tours during this event, we'll also be selling Wester-Amstel products.
Festival of Plums
After the dreadful drought of last year, nature seems to have recovered. This is crearly visible in the orchard, where plums were growing in such numbers, that several of the trees needed to be supported to prevent branches from snapping off. Of course, we responded to this abundance with a Festival of Plums.
This year’s harvest wil be sold at Open Monuments Day.
Volunteers have created a chutney, a liqueur and three lovely blends of prune jam. All made with organic ingredients from our gardens.
Striking outsider is a tasty jam of lavender, a herb mostly used in our bedrooms for a nice fragrance and to induce sleep. Also blackberries, currants and mulberries and even roses proved to be suitable for a liqueur.
From the rich harvest of special apples and pears you can take a large bag home. But please don’t forget a little donation for our volunteers.
So why not stop by for a tour, a shop, and a wander through our beautiful country estate?

Bird & Bat Tour 2019
Date: April 20 || Time: 11:15 || Location: Wester-Amstel
On our Plants Exchange Day 2019 (saturday 20th of april, 11.00-12.30) we’ll give extra attention to a number of new nesting boxes during our annual ‘Wings Tour’. These are a special gift from bird lover and gardner Peter Siebbeles, who got interested in Wester-Amstel after seeing us on the TV program BinnensteBuiten beginning this year. Besides three boxes fit for several species of tits (one of which is already occupied!), he also built a spectacular ‘Bats Apartment’, that now looms over the former Berry Garden.
You can download a ‘pdf’ of the updated Bird Map, if you wish to partake in our tour,
starting at 11.15.
Note: The tour will be in Dutch.

Amstelland Day 2019
Date: Sunday, June 2, 2019 || Time: 10:00 - 16:00 Location: Wester-Amstel
Each year Wester-Amstel takes part in Amstellanddag, an event that celebrates the past, present, and future of the Amstelland (the Dutch countryside).
This year there is plenty planned! Including...
WITCHCRAFT AT WESTER-AMSTEL:
This year’s Amstelland Day, Sunday June 2nd from 11.00 to 16.00, a group of voluntary Green Witches of countryhouse Wester-Amstel will introduce a score of brewings with the slogan ‘Herbal Sorcery’.
Aside from a mixes with vinegar, there’ll be combinations with sirups, salts and oils. Of course you can again buy our lovely pots with dried herbs, on which we offer spiritual applications and tasty recipes.
We kick off with the usual tour around our nesting facilities for birds, among which we installed several apartments for bats. Hope all goes well with all that witchcraft going on...
And a special guest speaker... BUTTERFLY-GURU WANKJA FERGUSON: - ‘No coffee without bees’:
Also present on Amstellanddag is butterfly-expert Wankja Ferguson, who will give us a lecture on the deplorable state the bees are in, and as a result the gloomy future of we humans. Not only are staple foods reliant on bees, wthout bees we also can forget about our daily cup of coffee.
